Captain Miguel
Born and raised in the Quintana Roo region, Captain Miguel has spent his entire life on the waters of the Mexican Caribbean. His deep connection to Laguna Bacalar began in childhood, when he would explore the lagoon’s hidden corners with his grandfather in a small wooden canoe.
After years of working on fishing boats along the coast, Miguel decided to share his love for Bacalar with visitors from around the world. He founded Magical Tours Bacalar with a simple mission: to create peaceful, authentic experiences on one of Mexico’s most beautiful natural wonders.
Miguel is a certified boat captain, a passionate storyteller, and a committed steward of the lagoon’s delicate ecosystem. Every tour is guided by his knowledge of the area’s history, ecology, and hidden gems.

Magical Tours Bacalar was founded with the belief that the best way to experience Bacalar is from the water. What started as a single pontoon boat and a dream has grown into a beloved tour company trusted by travelers from around the globe.
We launched our first tour with just four guests and a cooler full of fresh fruit. Word spread quickly. Visitors loved the calm, personalized approach — no rush, no crowds, just the sound of the water and the beauty of seven colors stretching to the horizon.
